Colin Adamson who is based in Doune is one of the best bespoke violin makers in Scotland. His website had been sitting doing nothing for a few years so he decided to give it an overhaul. After talking with Colin we learned that boosting his profile was very important and projecting an image that says he is a mater craftman was the main goal of the website.
By chance Colin had been approached by Michael Rea to make a film showcasing his work. Having previously worked with Mike we knew that the footage would be top quality and could be used as a video background for the homepage. Converting the HD quality video into a web suitable HTML5 background image was easily done using a handy app called Handbrake. It reduced the file to a small enough size without compromising on quality too much.
The colours of the site are very much influenced by the wood and materials that Colin uses to make his violins (pre-varishing of course). The mood should hopefully reflect Colin’s workshop which was always very peaceful when I was there, classical music playing in the background, tools and wood were very organised and all had there place.
We were also able to set Colin up with a reliable email system from Google Apps. He can now easily access his emails from his phone and laptop.
