Jen Cunningham Jewellery

Jen Cunningham is an Edinburgh based jewellery designer who is inspired by landscapes, she contacted me having seen another site that I had developed – The Velvet Easel. She was running two websites, one as a portfolio site and the other a shop, they obviously needed to become one. When I saw her work I knew what the website should look like. Her pieces are quite unusual, they look chunky but when you get to see and touch them they are delicate and very beautiful. This is what the website needed to convey.

The landscape in the logo is actually Arran which is just across the water from where Jen grew up, we came up with the idea for the logo an hour after meeting each other for the first time, even finding the font as well. We just got each other!

I wanted to incorporate a landscape into the design and chose to use it as the footer, appearing on top of full page images so that it never got lost and became a design feature. The site is very monochromatic with the only colour highlight being purple, Jen and I felt that any splashes of colour would detract from the beautiful shiny silver.

The site has an easy to manage e-commerce section that allows Jen to control stock and add new items as she creates them.
